Animation studio LatAm Ánima launches division for adults and young children with adaptation ‘El Santos’ – TBI Vision
Mexican animation studio Ánima launched a new division for adults and young adults and put together a 2D animated sitcom based on the popular El Santos comic strip as a first project.
The original El Santos The comic was developed by Mexican illustrators José Trinidad Camacho (alias Trino) and José Ignacio Solórzano (alias Jis), both being the executive producers of the new series.
Set in the Mexican wrestling world, titular El Santos is a brash, rude, and over the top luchador who is exotic lover and sex addict Tetona Mendoza. Constantly fighting against the forces of good against evil, he will do anything for Tetona’s sake.
The original Trino and Jis comic has nine published books and is currently in print weekly in numerous newspapers around the world, along with an animated feature film, El Santos against the Tetona Mendoza, having already been published in 2012.
Ánima was founded in 2002 by CEO Fernando De Fuentes Sainz and COO José C. García de Letona, and is headquartered in Mexico City, with studios in Madrid, the Canary Islands and Buenos Aires. The company is at the origin of series such as El Chavo and Cléo & Cuquin, and co-produced Space chickens in space with disney and Legend Quest and Legend Quest: Masters Of Myth with Netflix.
