Last year, Bleeding Cool learned that IDW Publishing was set to lose its All Ages Star Wars comic book line at the same time we learned that it would also be losing the Marvel All-Ages line. Later, Dark Horse Comics would announce that it would be taking back the Star Wars comic book license, but only for comics of all ages, for publication in the spring of 2022. Well, the spring solicitations came and went without a line. But at the ComicsPRO Weekend Comic Retailer Conference, Matt Parkinson, vice president of marketing at Dark Horse Comics, told retailers that “this summer, Star Wars returns to Dark Horse in an all-new lineup of comics and graphic novels for all ages.” So summer 2022, it is.

Here’s what happened last year. Where it says spring, just replace it with summer. And find our other ComicsPRO coverage here.

Starting in Spring 2022, fans are told they can expect adventures in every era, from the High Republic to the rise of the First Order, to “new and exciting stories that Dark Horse is thrilled to present”. Dark Horse Comics has collaborated with Lucasfilm for nearly 30 years on a variety of comic books and art books, from dark empire in 1991 at Star Wars Rebels Art in 2020. Now Dark Horse returns to the many worlds of star wars with brand new stories for readers of all ages.

“Dark Horse has a rich publishing history Star War comics and graphic novels. star wars is near and dear to all of our hearts and I’ve been a fan since I saw the original film nineteen times when it was originally released. I’m thrilled that Dark Horse is once again bringing new stories from this incredible galaxy to life, and I’m not exaggerating when I say that we look forward to bringing these new adventures to fans of all ages.” — Mike Richardson, Founder and CEO of Dark Horse Comics

“We at Lucasfilm Publishing are all excited to be working with Mike Richardson and everyone at Dark Horse on original comic books and graphic novels set in a galaxy far, far away. There are limitless storytelling possibilities for comics of all ages, and we look forward to collaborating with Dark Horse – and the best writers and artists in the industry – to bring these stories to readers and fans everywhere. ” –Michael Siglain, Creative Director, Lucasfilm Publishing.
