Gameweek 23 Scout Picks based on Man United and West Ham assets
Manchester United and West Ham players form the backbone of our Gameweek 23 Scout Picks XI.
In a side chosen by David, Neale, To M and Andy, we included five players from both clubs ahead of this weekend’s fixtures.
We line up in a 3-4-3 formation this time around, which is £ 73.8million, or £ 9.2million in our budget of £ 83.0million.
Robert sanchez (£ 4.4million) was a relatively straightforward inclusion in the Scout selections this week as Brighton continues to prove the skeptics wrong. They have kept a clean sheet in each of their last four games, including against Liverpool and Spurs, while Gameweek 23 opponent Burnley are the worst performing Premier League side this season (13 goals).
Aaron Cresswell (£ 5.6million) is the first of our West Ham triple-up as they move to face Fulham on Saturday afternoon. The left-back has created more chances than any other Hammers defenseman in the past four games, while six of his eight assists are on the road this season. Meanwhile, Fulham has failed to score in three of his last five.
Long-term owners of Luke shaw (£ 4.9million) were finally rewarded when the Manchester United full-back delivered two assists against Southampton, before being dragged to half-time. Having delivered the most crosses and created the most chances of all defenders over the past six matchweeks, we are backing Shaw to deliver the goods again when Everton come to Old Trafford.
Antonio Rüdiger (£ 4.5million) has indeed forced its way back into contention at Chelsea. Having started each of the last two league games under Frank Lampard, the Germany international has played every minute of Thomas Tuchel’s reign as manager of the Blues. Chelsea have yet to concede since the appointment of their new boss and, in Gameweek 23, will face a second bottom from Sheffield United for the goals scored this season (14).
In Gameweek 22, Bruno Fernandes (£ 11.4million) punished the majority of the top 10,000 fantasy Premier League players who chose to become captain Mohamed salah (£ 12.7million) with a 17-point run, tying his highest score this season. Even after a few whites, Fernandes had the most shots on target and created the most chances in the last six weeks of the game.
Son Heung-min (£ 9.7million) is gaining a place in the Scout squads mainly due to their favorable game in Gameweek 23. West Bromwich Albion have conceded at least twice in each of their last seven Premier League appearances.
No Premier League midfielder can better Jack Grealishof (£ 7.8million) 10 assists this season, including one against Saturday’s opponents Arsenal in Gameweek 8. After Bernd Leno (£ 5.0m) red card against Wolves, the Gunners could be forced to field their third choice goalkeeper, Alex Rúnarsson (£ 4.4million).
It’s getting harder and harder to ignore Tomas Soucek (£ 5.3million) after the great Czech international scored his eighth goal of the season against Aston Villa. Soucek has scored the most goals of any midfield this season and faces a side from Fulham who have conceded 20 header attempts in their last six.
Callum wilson (£ 6.8million) was the only bright light in an otherwise gruesome season for Newcastle. He comes up against Southampton on Saturday who, in addition to being knocked out nine by Manchester United, also has an injury crisis at the back.
West Ham shaped striker Michail antonio (£ 6.6million) have hit offensive returns in four of their last five games. With the highest expected goal odds (xG) of any forwards in the last six match weeks, we back Antonio to continue his impressive form against a Fulham side whose recent defensive improvements have stuttered.
Patrick bamford (£ 6.6million) is becoming a very reliable fantasy asset this season, adding enhanced creativity to his late goal threat. In the last four games only Fernandes has created more big chances than Leeds center-forward, who has produced three assists during that span.
- Nick pope (£ 5.5m)
- Matt Lowton (£ 4.4m)
- Dan Burn (£ 4.2million)
- Raphinha (£ 5.3m)

Because we use Fantasy Football Scout data so much in this process, the skipper we choose for each Gameweek is only known to those who have a valid Fantasy Football Scout membership and revealed to the public only when the deadline has passed.
