Hachette acquires Disney titles – Locus Online

Hachette Book Group (HBG) has acquired over 1,000 titles from Disney Book Group for the Little, Brown Books for Young Readers range, including many that have yet to be published, roughly doubling the waiting list printing. The deal includes YA and mid-level titles, as well as hardback books, picture books, and graphic novels.
Disney will continue to publish works that can be developed “on multiple platforms and mediums” and will continue to operate Disney Hyperion, Disney Press, Disney Editions, Marvel Press and Lucasfilm Press. Rick Riordan’s artwork and his Rick Riordan Presents imprint will remain with Disney, as will the works of Eoin Colfer.
HBG has been selling and distributing Disney prints for years and purchased around a thousand adult titles from Disney Hyperion in 2013. The deal does not include staff changes. Executive Vice President and Editor Megan Tingley plans to hire staff to support the acquired works.
