Quentin Tarantino Says “Hollywood” Novel Is A “Complete Overhaul” Of The Movie
The Hollywood director who is known for his different but amazing films teased that the next novel in his hit film “Once upon a time in hollywood“will be more than a stereotypical novelization.
He spoke about his book during an appearance on a podcast, saying the novel would be a “complete overhaul” of the film as it will be more than a book as it will include deleted scenes that the director did not add in. the film. and will also include more than a script from the film.
Quentin Tarantino, speaking on the podcast, said, “It’s not just me taking the script and them breaking it down into a romantic form. I told the story like a novel. So it’s not like, ‘Oh, okay, well, he obviously had a few scenes left, so he just took the script and romanticized it and added a few more scenes.’ It was a complete overhaul of the whole story.
The Pulp fiction director also mentioned that he has been writing the novel for five years and that there are things he cannot add to the film. He also added that this way he was able to better understand his characters and learn things about them.
Tarantino adds, “You know how you take a heavy novel and try to turn it into a movie? Well, for me the movie is that. This is the heavy version of the film.
Additionally, Quentin also mentioned that the Cliff Booth character who was played by Brad pitt in the film would be explored.
“In the movie, Cliff is a real puzzle, you think to yourself, what’s this guy’s deal?” said Tarantino. He mentions that, “And one of the things in the book is that there are these isolated chapters that tell you, for example, that this whole chapter will be about Cliff’s past. It goes back in time to tell you about Cliff at that time. And then you continue with the normal flow of the story and there’s another chapter that goes back in time and tells you about Cliff’s past. And every single chapter that pretty much concerns Cliff’s past is like a weird little pulp novel in itself starring Cliff. “
Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” novel is available for pre-order but goes on sale June 29.
