Actor Ranveer Singh’s upcoming movie ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ will soon be made into a comic book series, according to reports. The film will feature Singh in an eccentric and quick-witted avatar, one he has never donned before.

According to an article in Mid Day, the head of Yash Raj Films, Aditya Chopra, has decided to base a comic book series on the character of Singh in director Divyang Thakkar. The series is expected to release after the movie is released and the books are written in Hindi and English.

“In Jayeshbhai Jordaar, Divyang and co-producer Maneesh Sharma created a smart, quick-witted, underdog hero. The more Adi saw the material, the more he was convinced that the main character had lasting value. He felt that Jayeshbhai had the potential to appeal to a wide audience, especially kids, so they plan to make it into a comic book series,” a source told Mid Day.

In the film, Singh plays the role of Jayeshbhai, a Gujarati man who stands up against the patriarchal structure of society. We will see his character campaigning for equality between men and women. He shares the screen with Tamil and Telugu actress Shalini Pandey and the film will mark his Hindi debut. The social comedy also stars Boman Irani and Ratna Pathak Shah in integral roles.

The film was supposed to be released in August last year, but the makers were forced to postpone the date due to the pandemic. The film will now hit screens on May 13 this year, the release date was announced by the makers on social media earlier this month. Buzz is that YRF also plans to make it a franchise. The film’s release will also mark 50 years in business for Yash Raj Films and, it seems, Chopra is set to pull out all the stops for the celebrations.
