Taschen and Marvel Comics bring Spider Man fans take a trip down memory lane with The Marvel Comics Library. The first series for dealing with wild collectors is The Adventures of Spidey 1962-1964. Stan Lee and Steve Ditko had one hell of a character on their hands, and these extra-large recreations of early issues will delight serious collectors. Marvel publisher Ralph Maccio also offers a stellar historical essay on the Web-Slinger. David Mandel also introduces the reader to these rare photos, artboards, and never-before-seen pieces of Marvel history. As Spider-Man’s birthday approaches, it’s a great way to follow Peter Parker’s story. After Spidey, the Avengers and Captain America will receive similar treatments in the series.

Fans of the massive history of comics will appreciate the faithfulness of these volumes to the original books. There are advertisements and little notes from the creative teams perfectly preserved from the first prints. Three different types of paper are even used to reproduce the look and feel of these early issues. For the first 5,000 copies of the book, fans will receive a numbered “Famous First Edition”. Springing for the “Collector’s Edition” will be delivered with a printed aluminum cover and a special case. Check out what the publisher had to say about this book below:

TASCHEN’s extra-large format, sized close to the original artwork, reveals surprising new details in the work of Marvel’s most acclaimed artists. For every title in the series, the purest comics have been opened for reproduction in close collaboration with Marvel and the Certified Guaranty Company Rather than recoloring the original production artwork (as was done in classic comic book reprints of previous decades), TASCHEN attempted to create an ideal depiction of these books as produced at the time of publication. ”

“Starting with high quality, premium comics obtained with the help of the CGC, super high resolution photographs of every page have been made as printed over half a century ago,” using modern retouching techniques to correct problems with the era’s cheap, imperfect print. This included improved and balanced ink densities and color matching, correct registration of the four-color print, and correction of thick / thin lines resulting from “smear” of flexible plates. a world-class printing press produced without economic constraints or time pressure – designed for readers, fans, artists and collectors. “
