“The Wire” Creator Refuses To Film HBO Show In Texas Due To Abortion Law
The liberal world of Hollywood has been in a state of collapse in recent weeks due to new Texas law which effectively bans abortion six weeks after pregnancy begins.
This week, “The Wire” creator David Simon became the latest Hollywood leftist to lose his mind to the law, claiming he would not shoot an upcoming HBO project in Texas as he had apparently planned in because of this law.
Oscar nominated actress Uma Thurman of pulp Fiction and Kill Bill fame also threw a fit on the law, as she admitted to having an abortion as a teenager.
“As an employer, it goes beyond politics,” Simon wrote. “I’m going to be scripting next month on an HBO non-fiction mini-series based on events in Texas, but I cannot and will not ask female actors / crews to forgo civil liberties to film there. What else is Dallas / Ft. Value?”

The Dallas Film & Creative Industries Office (formerly the Dallas Film Commission) hit back at Simon with a tweet to them, writes: “The laws of a state do not reflect all of its population. Not bringing a production to Dallas (a big “D”) only serves to further deprive those who live here. We need talents / teams / creatives to stay and vote, not to be chased away by inability to make a living. “

This didn’t seem to suit Simon, who responded by saying:
“You are completely mistaken. My answer is NOT rooted in a debate about political effectiveness or the usefulness of a boycott. My singular responsibility is to guarantee and maintain the civil liberties of all those we employ during a production … if even one of our employees demands full control of their own body and their choices – and if a law deny this or further criminalize our attempt. to help him exercise that control, we should have filmed elsewhere.
The Hollywood Reporter said Simon’s next project is likely at an early stage, as it has yet to be announced.
Uma Thurman’s abortion
Simon’s collapse came after Thurman admitted she had an abortion when she was a teenager.
“This law is yet another discriminatory tool against those who are economically disadvantaged, and often, indeed, against their partners,” Thurman wrote in an editorial for the Washington Post, “Women and children of wealthy families retain all choices of the world, and run little risk.
“I am also distressed by the fact that the law sets citizen against citizen, creating new vigilantes who will attack these disadvantaged women, denying them the choice not to have children whom they are not equipped for. occupying, or extinguishing their hopes. the future family they could choose, ”she added.
There are those who are with her:
Uma Thurman should never have shared her “darkest secret” about teenage abortion.
The right of a person to make their own medical decisions should be inherent. She’s absolutely right: Texas abortion law is a civil rights crisis for women.

And those who don’t:
Uma Thurman gives women the misconception that they need to have an abortion to be successful.
But most women have successful careers and fulfilling lives without killing their babies.

Abortion is murder, plain and simple, and we applaud Texas for taking a stand against it.
Given how hedonistic Hollywood has become, it’s no surprise that these liberal elites are so angry with a law that protects unborn babies.
Hopefully Texas stays strong in the face of this liberal backlash, as laws like this are desperately needed in this country.
