“Wait! Not 60 ft. Dolls, but it was a bit of a punk political band? I give up!”

WRONG. It was China Drum.

“That’s it! If I had sat here one more hour, I would have it! Going to Bosnia, I worried: what the hell are we doing here? How? ‘Or’ What does a group from England help? You are more overwhelmed by the whole situation and disgusted by what they have been through. But we were reassured by the kids there that we were coming to play a little gig and just to show that we care meant the world.

“We did a concert in a basement in Sarajevo and we couldn’t take our equipment or our sound system, so the equipment we were using fell apart, and Nige [Clark] I loved it because he said it reminded him of the punk gigs he used to go to with Crass. Kids were jumping all over the place, and it was this wild, crazy transfer of energy. When you see kids with tears in their eyes jumping around, it validates why you’re there.

Speaking of potentially dangerous situations, didn’t Dodgy end up partying with bikers at a Hells Angels bar once?

“It was Norway in 1994. We were on acid and the only place we could get a drink was a Hells Angels bar. They used to lead their pigs down the stairs and then they would dance to Kylie Minogue If you’re on acid, this is the best place in the world to be!
