The argument for the greatest movies of all time is full of contenders that have inspired countless moviegoers around the world. A title that is often mentioned in the age-old debate over the best movie of all time is unquestionably The Godfather. The quintessential gangster flick was a big hit when it was released and launched the careers of everyone involved. Today it is considered a cultural landmark of American cinema and a classic tale about family and the pursuit of the American dream.

However, the path to bringing this story to the screen is a dramatic narrative in itself, and it is now the basis for the new miniseries, The offer. This dramatic account of the creation of the first film follows Albert S. Ruddy (Miles Teller) through the trials and tribulations of bringing Mario Puzo’s epic novel to life on screen. It might be considered a classic by now, but the film had many haters who didn’t want to see the production come to fruition. The offer takes us into the world of 70s Hollywood to witness the fierce industry at one of its creative heights and most vicious times.

The offer features a stacked ensemble cast. Joining Teller is Matthew Goode as a famous producer Robert Evans, Dan Foger as The Godfatherthe director Francis Ford Coppola, Patrick Gallo as the author of the novel, Mario Puzoand John Ribisi as Joe Colombo, a notorious mob boss who threatened to derail the film’s production for his portrayal of Italian Americans. This only scratches the surface of a deep list of characters who helped or opposed the creation of one of the greatest movies of all time.

The Godfather has developed a massive following since its debut 50 years ago, and The offer gives longtime fans a chance to get a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the classic film. We’ve put together a handy guide here for anyone interested in catching The offer streaming, with info on where you can watch it and even where you can find the original movies to fully celebrate the 50th anniversary of this grand cinematic achievement.
