York CWRT to Present a Soldier’s Civil War Christmas Zoom Lecture

Michael Jesberger will be the speaker at the November 17, 2021 monthly meeting of the White Rose Civil War Roundtable in York (PA). He will present a program called “A Soldier’s Civil War Christmas”. This presentation, accompanied by a slide show, deals with the experiences of the soldier in the Civil War during the Christmas seasons of 1861-1865. Away from home, soldiers celebrated the season in different ways together at camp, on the march and on the battlefield. The program will also discuss how Christmas was celebrated during the Civil War, on the home front, and the many differences from how the holiday is celebrated today. Join historical reenactor, speaker and tour guide Michael Jesberger for a discussion on one of our favorite festivals and traditions.

Mr. Jesberger is a freelance military historian specializing in the periods of the American Revolution and the Civil War. He is renowned for the depth and breadth of his knowledge, as well as his engaging and passionate presentation style, whether giving formal lectures, living history presentations or tours of historic sites in the tri-state region. A member of many history-based organizations and active in the reenactment community, he participates in many battle reenactments, living history programs and ceremonies in honor of our former and current veterans. A long-time resident of the Philadelphia area, Mr. Jesberger is originally from Northeast Philadelphia and has moved to Bucks and Montgomery County, Pa., And currently resides in Lansdale, Pa., With his wife Amy, his son Erik and his two daughters, Erin and Emma.
